Tongass Historical Museum

Tongass Historical Museum: Discover Alaska’s feisty “First City” at the Tongass Historical Museum through informative exhibits . Rare artifacts and historical photographs tell the authentic tale of Ketchikan as a Native fish camp, gold and copper mining center, fishing port, timber town, cannery site, transportation hub, and lively community.  Find out about the latest exhibits, book signings, and special guests by visiting the Museum Facebook Page, or the City of Ketchikan Tongass Historical Museum web page.

Historic Ketchikan: Historic Ketchikan is a private, non-profit organization that promotes economic development through historic preservation and heritage tourism. The Ketchikan area has the largest percentage of historic properties in the State of Alaska, and Historic Ketchikan takes a very active role in maintaining that integrity.

Alaska Historical Society: THS is a member of the Alaska Historical Society. The Alaska Historical Society is home to information about Alaska history and local historical societies throughout the state.

Ketchikan Story Project: The Ketchikan Story Project is the winner of 7 Emmy Awards . The City of Ketchikan Museum Department dedicated a very substantial amount of time assisting with the Ketchikan Story Project series – not only in terms of supplying high quality historic images for the films and website, but also in information and cast suggestions. Our involvement with the project has spanned that 6+ years that the project has been going on. Many of the images that were used in the project are THS images.
